Just because I love owls so much and I've got some new owl buttons listed on my Folksy shop, I thought I'd do a blog giveaway of one of my owl pendants.
If you like owls too and want to win this necklace, just start following my blog and tell me a fact about owls, a joke about owls or even why you like owls too!
I'll pick my favourite comment next Sunday afternoon - good luck x
Now following : ) The UK's largest Owl and the Worlds' largest Owl is the Eagle Owl. It has wing span of six feet and can kill deer and herons. It has large ear tufts. http://knittingsnippets.blogspot.com
Amusing owl story - When I was about 13/14, I went to Majorca on a bird spotting holiday, oh yes. One of the bird we had been told to listen out for was the Scops Owl, and we were taught how to make a Scops Owl call. One evening, I'm sitting on the balcony of our hotel room with a mate, and hear a Scops Owl, so I start calling to it. We went on calling to each other for ages, and eventually I decided to go and tell our teacher that we've heard one. I run down to the terrace where he is, and he tells me to be very quiet, because he's been calling to a Scops Owl, but it's just gone quiet, so we need to listen carefully to see if we can hear it again. I didn't have the heart to tell him...
That's so cute! One of my first best friends had a pet owl (his parents practically lived in a zoo!) and I've always remembered that apparently the tufts of feathers on top of some owl's heads, you know the ear tufts are for display only. That's all I got for Owl facts though. Only that, I'm also obsessed with them too :).

It had been taken from its nestbox to have a leg-ring fitted by a bunch of Swedish ornithologists. Ural Owls are incredibly violent despite looking like big feathery teddy-bears (http://www.einst.ee/publications/images/nature/kakk2.jpg) - their Swedish name is 'Slaguggla', meaning 'strike owl'. Out of the frame of the photo is a guy holding a big branch, to fend off Mother Ural Owl in case she decided to come down and clobber someone.
I can't recommend this place highly enough - it's such a fabulous day out and is family run. I bought my Mum & Dad an owl experience day here and they loved it. http://www.hawk-conservancy.org/ - it's in Weyhill, Andover. And here's a little owl fact: a group of owls is known as a 'parliament' or more appropriately 'a stare'!
owls have developed little feathers under there wings so they can fly silently!
anyway I love owls, we have a lovely barn owl that flies in the field behind our house, every morning without fail hes there looking for his brekkie! a lovely sight.
Hello, I'm the dottery potter and I live in Hampshire, UK with Mr dottery potter and the little d p's.
I am 38 and enjoy lots of crafts but the main one is......yes, you've guessed it.....pottery!
I also dabble in a little papercraft, sketching, painting and am an utter failure at knitting and crochet but will not give up trying to learn!
Glad you dropped by and enjoy my blog.

And....folklore says, 'Parents thought their babies would have trouble if an owl hooted when their baby was born'.
